Estudio Barozzi Veiga is a Barcelona-based architectural office founded in 2004 by Fabrizio Barozzi and Alberto Veiga. Fabrizio Barozzi graduated from the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia and the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Sevilla. He also studied at the Ecole nationale supérieure d’architecture de Paris La Villette. Alberto Veiga graduated from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Navarra. After establishing Estudio Barozzi Veiga, the office has won many design competitions including the refurbishment of the Palace Santa Clara in Úbeda, the Auditorium of Águilas, the Headquarter for the D.O. Ribera del Duero in Roa, the Philharmonic Hall in Szczecin, the Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts in Lausanne, the extension of the Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts in Chur, the Music School in Brunico and the Tanzhaus in Zürich. Among many international awards, the office received the Ajac Award 2007, the International Architecture Award “Barbara Cappochin” 2011, the Gold medal for Italian Architecture 2012, and the Young Talent of Italian Architecture 2013 Award. In 2014, the office was selected to be a part of the Design Vanguard by the Architectural Record magazine. In 2015, the studio won the Mies van der Rohe Award granted by the European Union. Besides being an architect, both Barozzi and Veiga have been invited to teach at various institutions. Barozzi was Project Professor at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in Barcelona between 2007 and 2009. He has been an Associate Professor of Architectural Design at the Universitat de Girona since 2009. He was a Visiting Professor at the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia between 2013 and 2014. Recently, he is a Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2016. From 2007 to 2009, Veiga was Project Professor at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in Barcelona. He was also a Visiting Professor at the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia in 2014.
