New Zoo Project
Project Summary:
Master planning for Thailand’s new National Zoo was a collaboration of experts including landscape architects, architects, urban planners, engineers, exhibition designers, veterinarians, zookeepers and the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand. Together the team researched and developed a concept, design program and master plan for an innovative zoological and ecological learning center to be located in Pathum Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok. Key objectives to provide for were conservation of rare and endangered species; research in breeding endangered species to promote biodiversity; creation of a learning center for wildlife conservation; and to build a recreational facility for the general public.
The main concept was to recreate the ecosystem of the locale from the past for future generations to enjoy using world-class zoo standards. By representing the ecosystem specific to the location, a zoo would be developed with a unique character that is distinctive amongst other world-class zoos and new and fun for visitors.
The new zoo located in the alluvial planes of the Chao Phraya River was therefore developed with the concept of reawakening the ‘Flood Meadow Wetland’ or ‘Thung Luang Rangsit’: re-creation of the rich and abundant ecosystem and tropical ecology of the historical Flood Meadow of the locale, where visitors will experience how animals and humans can live together with water in a sustainable way.
Twelve zones are separated by water into 2 sides: local Asian and other continents (Australia, Africa, Sth America), with the centerpiece being the historical Flood Meadow Wetland. Animals represented are those found in these or similar latitudes. Planting, topography and water used to create ecological landscapes that radiate out from Flood Meadow at the heart of the Zoo.
The Mall Lifestore Ngamwongwan
Project Summary:
The Mall Ngamwongwan Shopping Center and Department Store is in the heart of northern Bangkok. The scope of work included renovation of the exterior and interior as well as new building extensions with the concept of an ‘Urban Oasis’: urban design fulfilling the needs of city dwellers with an emphasis on nature and greenery.
The Mall is not only for shopping; it’s a lifestyle experience where users eat, play, meet friends and family, and also enjoy plants and nature. The new green areas bring benefit to both users and the surrounding communities.
Being a renovation project in a dense urban area, there were many challenges such as budget, maintaining original structures, and screening utilities like electric poles and service manholes. Plants at eye level—creating a foreground—were used to screen these and a garden taking all limitations into consideration aimed to seamlessly connect indoor and outdoor gardens of The Mall.
An additional challenge was to have maximum planting and an atmosphere of being immersed in nature with limited space. Layers of planting were used to create an illusion of depth: trees, varied height shrubs, and a backdrop of vines used both vertical and horizontal planes to grow a lush garden. A steep level change between the street and main entrance was adjusted to be graduated through gardens to create an inviting approach experience.
An events plaza at the front of The Mall is open to the public as a common green space and valuable shaded gathering area protected from urban heat. Plants reduce noise and smog pollution from traffic for the community along the major busy road. The lush exterior gardens also extending inside The Mall create a true “URBAN OASIS’ for the community.

Sohelou St.Marc Catholic Chapel

A new chapel to replace the small, aged, wooden chapel was meant to become a gift for the people of Sohelou Village. There was local community participation, regardless of religions, from design to construction. The construction needed to be simple and understandable for the local workers. Wood from the old chapel was given new life into this new chapel.
This coffin-like chapel, seen from heaven eye-view, provides an experiential journey from the dark and heavy to the light and weightlessness guided by the cross as a solemn reminder to us all of the Jesus’s sacrifice.

Winding villa

Winding Villa is a vacation home for city dwellers, nestled in the lush landscape of Khao Yai National Park. Located at the border of the natural reserve, the villa sits at the foot of the mountain and share its 20,000 square meter site with a natural animal watering well. In order to cause the least amount of disruption to the natural surrounding, the client and design team decided against the construction of a perimeter fence, opting for a curved geometry that defines only the boundary of the villa. The shape and direction of the curved wall is determined by the location of the existing trees. The winding geometry of the ground floor curves in and out as it avoiding or encircle the trees on the site, leaving the trees untouched outside its boundary, or bringing it into the courtyard to become a part of the architecture.

โครงการ มน-ละมุน เป็นอาคารที่ประกอบไปด้วยร้านอาหารและสปาซึ่งตั้งอยู่ในอำเภอบางพลี โดยทางโครงการได้เจาะกลุ่มลูกค้าประเภทครอบครัวและต้องการให้อาคารแห่งนี้มีพื้นที่ที่เปิดโล่งและเชื่อมโยงถึงกัน
ดีไซน์ของอาคารเกิดจากวงกลมที่สานเข้าด้วยกันจนเกิดเป็นพื้นที่ใช้งาน 2 แบบ พื้นที่ในวงกลมกลายเป็นห้องสปาส่วนตัวและคอร์ทยาด ส่วนพื้นที่นอกวงกลมนั้นเป็นพื้นที่ส่วนรวมที่เชื่อมต่อกันทั้งหมด ซึ่งสร้างประสบการณ์ของพื้นที่ที่แปลกใหม่และตอบโจทย์ฟังก์ชั่นของอาคารและผู้ใช้งานได้ทั้งหมด
VANILLA VALLEY
โครงการ VANILLA VALLEY เป็นบ้านพักอาศัยที่ตั้งอยู่ในจังหวัดอุทัยธานี ลักษณะของที่ตั้งนั้นรายล้อมด้วยสวนป่าที่ช่วยสร้างความเป็นส่วนตัวและเปิดรับธรรมชาติได้รอบด้าน ประกอบกับต้นไม้เดิมทั้งหมด 7 ต้นที่อยู่ในแปลงที่ดิน ช่วยสร้างร่มเงาและภาวะอยู่สบายให้กับตัวบ้าน ผู้ออกแบบจึงได้เสนอที่จะเก็บรักษาต้นไม้เดิมไว้ โดยทำการเว้าตัวอาคารด้วยเส้นครึ่งวงกลมทั้งหมด 4 วงเพื่อหลบต้นไม้ ซึ่งสร้าง Courtyard ทั้งหมด 4 ส่วน ที่ทำหน้าที่เชื่อมพื้นที่ภายนอกและภายในได้อย่างลงตัว
