Plankrich is a Chiang Mai based architectural firm established in 2005. Their practice’s philosophy is based on the idea of ‘alternative approaches in design, to try to turn crisis (disadvantage) into opportunities.’ Their design is driven by the exploration of the local materials to incorporating with the industrial ones, with the influence of environmental concerns and impacts and the improvement in construction materials towards the future of architectural design. This results in somewhat unusual building features which have generated a number of public discussions on their design outcomes. Currently, their practice has extended to cover a number of building scales and many regions in Thailand further a field from the original northern region.
แผลงฤทธิ์เป็นสำนักงานสถาปนิกที่ตั้งโดยคนหนุ่มสาวรุ่นใหม่เมื่อประมาณห้าปีก่อนในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ นำโดย ขวัญชัย สุธรรมซาว ปรัชญาในการทำงานของแผลงฤทธิ์คือ ‘การเปลี่ยนวิกฤตให้เป็นโอกาส’ และทำการออกแบบอย่างไม่ก้าวร้าว แนวทางในการทำงานเน้นการทดลองใช้วัสดุก่อสร้างพื้นถิ่นผสมกับวัสดุก่อสร้างในระบบอุตสาหกรรม และเน้นรูปแบบที่เรียบง่ายแต่อาจแปลกตา ผลที่ได้คืองานออกแบบที่มีลักษณะที่แตกต่างไปจากอาคารที่ตั้งอยู่โดยรอบ ทำให้เกิดการกล่าวถึงต่อไปในวงกว้าง ผลงานการออกแบบอาคารที่ผ่านมาของแผลงฤทธิ์มีหลากหลายประเภท ตั้งแต่บ้านไปจนถึงร้านอาหารหรือโรงแรม ในปัจจุบันแผลงฤทธิ์ขยายงานออกไปสู่ภูมิภาคอื่นของประเทศไทยแล้ว
